The one issue I’ve ever seen with podfic was with people not asking permission before recording one and some people not respecting a “no” when they asked permission. I just remember it got bad because some podficcers got really mad about people not wanting them recording their fics, because they saw it as an accessibility thing over everything else. I do think some fic writers overreacted, but they do have a right to control their fics and give permission as they want. That wank was several years ago, though, so hopefully both sides have settled down by now.
