OK, maybe it’s just because I don’t watch teen movies, haven’t since I was one, but what are all these “gay teen movies”? From what I can tell reading the notes here, the one example everyone is bringing up is written by a gay man, so, WTF?
Ben and Jerry’s isn’t making an empty advertising gesture. They company has supported Bernie Sanders, and made an ice cream flavor to raise awareness of global warming. They run progressive news stories on their websites and social media. They pay their workers a living wage. Even their brownies are sourced from a company that specializes in hiring people out of jail to help them get their lives back on track. They’re open supporters of socialism. I understand the idea of “no ethical consumption” but Ben and Jerry’s isn’t just adopting a political message for nothing.
Ben and Jerry are Jewish so like. really? my dad fucking boycotted them for years because of how much money they donate to charities that oppose republican values. don’t come after my ice cream dads like that.
I had forgotten they were Jewish. Makes all the comments on here about how they’re bad because “they support Israel” look really bad.
question time: what is the one scene from a film or tv show that you could genuinely write a 2000 word essay analysing/ just generally expressing your appreciation for?
The last scene of Season 1 of True Detective. Marty and Rust and stories about the stars.
the whole “i used to be a teen who hated authority only to grow up to become the authority that hates teens” is a bad bad thing that practically every other generation has fallen into and we all need to make an extremely conscious effort not to repeat the fucking pattern
Studies have shown that the shift starts to happen around age 30. If you’re close to that, make a conscious effort to be open to and accepting of younger people. I’m 31 and paying close attention to how I react to young people and new trends and shit and trying to keep myself from developing those thought patterns.

Ah yes, “never trust anyone over 30″ for the new age. I’d really like to see those studies.
Also, this is implying that whatever generation OP is in is/will be the first to break free of becoming conservative as they age, like there aren’t any older people still fighting for civil rights of all kinds and I don’t think I need to explain why that’s fucked up and wrong.
